Getting Started

Who's eligible for Retail Benefits cash back?

This is the great part – you're eligible. Just so long as you:

  • Create a Retail Benefits account
  • Provide a valid email address and password
  • Are at least 18 years of age and reside in the U.S.
  • Have a valid U.S. mailing address (a PO Box won't work)

What if I live outside the U.S.? Can I still participate?

Unfortunately, no, you can't. We are only able to offer this special program to residents within the United States.

How do I sign up?

It's easy. Simply click Log In and Shop, and you're on your way!

You'll be prompted to enter your name, email address and a password that you would like to use for your account. Accept the Terms & Conditions, and you're signed up! After you've completed the sign up form you'll receive a confirmation email. If for some reason you do not receive this email, it means that your account may not have been completed. If this happens, contact our Support Team at support@retailbenefits.com.

What happens after I sign up?

There are several ways to shop on our site:

  • Know the merchant you're looking for? Find the store in our list of merchants or search for the merchant in our easy-to-use search feature.
  • Looking for a general product category? Browse our extensive list of product categories and merchant listings to find what you need.
  • Searching for a particular product? Find what you're looking for using our advanced search technology, which lets you filter the results to find exactly what you want.
  • Looking for travel? Visit the Travel page to find our travel partners.

How do I download my shopping toolbar?

Never miss a cash back opportunity! Downloading your shopping toolbar is easy! Just log in and then click the Download Toolbar button on the main shopping page.

Can I refer a friend to shop and earn cash back?

Sure you can! It's easy, just click on the "Refer a Friend" link at the top of the page and enter your friend's name, email address and a custom message if you want. You can even upload your address book (from Gmail, Yahoo!, AOL, Outlook & others) and send invitations to up to 50 of your friends per day!

How can I assume this is legit? What about the potential for "spam?"

We have invested a tremendous amount of resources to ensure this entire program is safe and secure. All the information that we collect is protected by our strict privacy policy. We take the security of our customers extremely seriously.

Is there a limit to how much cash back I can earn?

No, there is no limit. Shop and earn cash back to your heart's content. Try it, you'll love it.

When and how do I get my Retail Benefits cash back?

Every time you sign in and visit "My Account", you are presented with your current cash back balances. It's all very clear and simple. We even show you the pending, available, in process, and rewarded cash back amounts. From time to time, you may choose to return a purchase. Well, Retail Benefits cash back purchases are defined as pending for up to 60 days from the date of purchase. Once that time has passed, we'll automatically send you your cash back (provided you meet your chosen minimum) around the fifth day of each month. Be sure to choose your method of reimbursement (check, direct deposit or PayPal) on your account page.

How often will I get my Retail Benefits cash back?

Any time you have your chosen minimum in available cash back, you can request a payout by going to My Account. But it's even easier than that: we'll automatically send you the cash back around the fifth day of each month, as long as you meet your chosen minimum. Do you have less than the minimum in your account? Don't worry, just keep shopping! You never lose the cash back you've already accumulated, and we'll send it to you as soon as you hit your minimum.

Are there any fees associated with the withdrawal of my Retail Benefits cash back?

Yes - we charge a $3 administrative fee each time you withdraw your accumulated cash back, to cover our costs associated with preparing and mailing checks or transferring the money to your bank account.

Must I have "cookies" enabled on my browser?

Your Internet browser stores tiny files called "cookies" – these allow web sites to recognize you when you go back there so you don't have to log in every time. You will need to have cookies enabled for cash back to work. If you block or delete cookies - even when you close your browser or shut down your computer - you may not get all of the cash back to which you are entitled. If you block or delete cookies from retailbenefits.com, the Retail Benefits toolbar will not function properly.

Must I have Javascript enabled on my browser?

Javascript is a programming language used to make the web easier to use. You will need to have Javascript enabled to use the Retail Benefits site. In addition, you will need to have Javascript enabled for cash back to work with many merchants.

How does Retail Benefits cash back know I made a qualifying purchase?

Once you're logged in a Retail Benefits store and start your purchases, the store knows you came from us. They simply report the purchase to Retail Benefits and we go ahead and mark the cash back in your account as pending. Remember, we have to wait 60 days for potential returns before your cash back is available to withdraw (subject to your chosen minimum).

What about returns and exchanges? Or what if I cancel a purchase?

Returns and exchanges are subject to each store's return policy. By returning, canceling, or exchanging a portion or all of a purchase, the store will probably reverse your purchase with us. It makes sense, then, that we can't pay you any cash back from that transaction.

How do I know my purchase qualifies for cash back?

That's easy. Every item on the site that clearly displays a cash back symbol is eligible. It will even tell you what percentage of cash back you will get. Make sure you store and file your order confirmation that is sent to you with each purchase. If there is ever an issue with your cash back, we require this info to identify your purchase and find your cash back. It's the same exact concept as holding onto your receipt from a physical retailer.

When will a purchase show up in my account?

You should see your eligible purchases on your My Account page when the store confirms to us that you purchased an eligible product from their site, usually in 1-4 days. Some stores may take longer to confirm the purchase.

Where can I find store coupons?

Looking for store coupons to save more money? There are a couple of ways to find coupons for the stores you want to shop. You can click on the "Coupon Savings" link on the Shopping page to find a list of all coupons, and narrow your search by keyword or by merchant's offering Free Shipping.

How can I find a product that I'm looking for?

There are several ways for you to easily find the product that you're looking for. The easiest way is to use our advanced search technology on your browser toolbar or on the shopping page to search for a product you're looking for.

To begin, simply type the product you're looking for in the search box. Remember, the more descriptive you are, the better the search results will be. You will be directed to the Search Results page, which displays all items that match your search criteria. Your Current Search shows the terms that you used for the search. You can easily remove each term by clicking X next to the keyword or you can even Clear Current Search if you'd like.

Use the Narrow Your Search menu to add additional keywords and to search for the product you're looking for at a particular merchant or by a particular brand you can also use the Slidebar to narrow your product search by price.

Understanding Merchant Listings

How can I view stores that are available for me to shop from?

Clicking on View All Stores will take you to a searchable list of all stores that are available for you to shop. You can find a store by alphabetical name, by entering specific keywords or by searching for a category of products that a merchant offers.

What are Featured Stores?

Featured Stores are popular stores that we've chosen to give you easy, one-click access to without searching. You can click on the logo of your Favorite Store in the scrolling banner and go to the store's detail page. You can also click on Featured Stores, which will take you to a searchable list of our Featured Stores.

How can I find a specific merchant that I'm looking for?

There are several ways to find the merchant that you're looking for. The easiest way is to search for the merchant by name in your browser toolbar. Simply start typing the name of the merchant in the box, and the results will auto-populate. Select the name of the store you're looking for and you will be taken directly to the store's website.

How will the merchant listings be displayed?

Your initial Search Results will display the first 5 of the total number of merchants returned in your search. You can change the total number of items shown per page by clicking on the "Items per Page" box at the top or bottom of the page and choose to show 5, 10, 20 or show ALL items on the page.

What information does the merchant listing contain?

Every merchant listing contains:

Store logo – This is the store's logo. Clicking on the store's logo will take you to the store's detail page, where you will find a link to shop as well as the store's cash back, description and coupons.

Store name – This is the store's name. Clicking on the store's name will take you to the store's detail page.

Description – The description tells you a little about the store and its website.

Coupons – This shows you the total number of coupons available for this store. You can click on the number to view the store detail page and any coupons available to redeem. If "O" is displayed, it means that no coupons are currently available for this store.

Cash Back – This is the total cash back that the store pays on each completed purchase, before tax and shipping (if applicable), and after any discounts or coupons used. If you see "Up to X%", it means that the store pays different percentage of cash back for different products offered.

Shop Store – Clicking on Shop Store will take you directly to the store's website to start shopping.

Add to Favorites – Clicking on the heart shaped Add to Favorites icon will add the store to your Favorites list. You can always remove the store by clicking on Remove, or by removing them in your Account under Favorites.

What is the merchant detail page and what does it show?

The merchant detail page contains:

Deals and Offers – This shows you a list of coupons that are currently available for this store. Click Redeem to go to the store's website and use that coupon or offer. If there are no coupons or deals are displayed, the store doesn't currently offer any.

Description – The description tells you a little about the store and its website.

Your Current Search – This shows the name of the store's detail page that you're viewing.

Narrow Your Search – This allows you to Narrow Your Search by entering any keywords for specific products that you're looking for in this store. Entering keywords here starts a search of products in this store that contain those keywords.

Popular Categories – This shows a list of popular Product Categories that this store offers. Clicking on a category starts a search for products in this store that fall into that category.

Can I add my favorite merchants to list for easier access?

You can easily add your favorite stores you like to shop to your Favorites list so that you can access them without searching for them. Simply click on the heart shaped icon to add the merchant to your Favorites list. You can access your Favorites list in your Account under Favorites. You can remove a favorite from the list anytime you like by clicking Remove.

Understanding Product Listings

How do I search for a product by category?

Have a category of products that you want to browse? You can easily search for products by category. Click on the category you're searching for on the Shopping page, or click "View All" to view a complete list of categories and the merchants that offer these categories of products.

What information does the product listings contain?

Every product listing contains:

Product image – An image of the product you're searching for. Clicking on the product photo will allow you to see more details on the product.

Comparison icon - The check mark indicates the ability to compare products. Click on the checkbox to add it to your Compare list to compare it with other products.

Favorite Icon – The heart shaped icon indicates the ability to add this product as one of your Favorites. Click on it to add it to your Favorite product list.

Product name - This is the name of the product Click on the name to see more details on that product.

Price – This is the price of the item, before tax or any discounts.

Merchant - The name of the Store where the item is sold.

Cash back % - The percentage of cash back that is offered on this item by this store. If no amount is listed, it means that there is no cash back available.

You can easily add a product from the shopping site or a green product you like to your Favorites list so that you can access them without searching for them. Simply click on the heart shaped icon to add the product to your Favorites list. You can access your Favorites list in your Account under Favorites. You can remove a favorite from the list anytime you like by clicking Remove.

How can I sort my Search Results?

We've made it easy for you to sort your Search Results and find the best deal on the product you're looking for.

First, your Search Results can be displayed in a window or list view. To change the view, simply click on the window or list icon

You can sort your Search Results by:

Best Match - By default, your Search Results are displayed by Best Match. Best Match takes terms you search for and sorts them by closely matching the terms with products in our database.

Name - Sorting by Name does just that, it sorts your Search Results by Name. Sorting by Name is best utilized when searching for the specific name of a product and not a general broad product search.

Price - Sorting by Price gives you the ability to sort products from lowest to highest price, or highest to lowest price. You can further narrow your Search Results by using the Sidebar to get the price range that you want.

Cash Back - Sorting by Cash Back sorts the Search Results by the percentage of cash back, from highest to lowest.

Total Cash Back - Sorting by Total Cash Back uses the amount of cash back when applied to the price, to give you the lowest price with the most cash back.

What are your search terms?

Your Current Search shows the terms that you have entered on your product search. To remove a search term click the "X" next to the term, and the results will be updated. If you want to start over on a fresh search, click "Clear Current Search and you will be able to create a new search.

How can I narrow my search to find the exact product I'm looking for?

You narrow down your search to find the exact product you're looking for and filter out the ones you don't want by adding new terms to the Keyword, Merchant, or Brand search fields. Once you add your new term, hit enter or click on the magnifying glass and your results will be updated. You will notice that the new term will show under Your Current Search.

What are keywords that I can use to narrow my search results?

Keyword: This can include anything from descriptive colors to specific names of products. The more specific terms you enter, the better your search results will be.

Merchant: Looking for a product from a particular store? Enter the store name as a merchant keyword to show results from that merchant.

Brand: Know the brand you're looking for? You can enter brand names like Nike, Sony, and Apple to narrow Your Search Results by brand.

How can I narrow my search by price?

There are a couple of ways to narrow Your Search Results by price. You can narrow your results by entering the MIN and MAX prices that you're looking for, or by moving the sliders to select the price range that you would like.

Can I compare products that I search for?

You can add up to 5 products in Your Search Results to compare. Comparing is easy -just click on the check box to add the product to the Compare list.

To compare the products that you've selected, click on Go and you will be taken to a page where you can compare the name, price, cash back percentage, and description for each item.

How can I filter search results from Amazon.com?

Some searches can be overwhelming, with some stores having millions of products in their database.

To get the best search results from stores like Amazon.com, we've separated it from other search results. You will notice By Category, with Amazon Products listed below. This displays search results listed only on Amazon.com. It works the same as other searches. It's just another way to deliver an easier, more specific search.

What are Featured Offers?

Featured Offers are popular travel-related retailers that we've chosen to give you easy, one-click access to without searching. You can simply click on the logo of the Offer in the scrolling banner and go to the retailer's detail page.

Are retailers that are listed on the Travel page listed the toolbar and merchant search feature?

Yes, you can still find your favorite travel-related retailer by name by searching through our toolbar or merchant search feature on the Merchandise page.

When do I get my cash back when I make a travel purchase?

Some travel-related retailers do not pay cash back until after the travel is complete. Your purchase may show as "pending" or $0 cash back until the travel is complete, at which time the cash back amount will post.

Why is the amount posted to my account different than the amount I paid for the ticket I purchased?

Cash back is calculated based on the subtotal of your order. Retailers do not pay cash back on taxes, insurance, shipping or any other service charges.

Looking for the best local deals, coupons and discounts? We've gathered the most comprehensive source of the hottest local deals, all in one place! Get special offers, coupons, and discounts of up to 90% off local restaurants, events, attractions, hotels, entertainment, shops, and more.

Where do the local deals come from?

Local deals are powered by The Dealmap, which brings you coupons and discounts from the leading online coupon providers (Groupon, Living Social, Restaurant.com to name a few).

Do I get cash back on Local Deals?

Because of the savings offered (up to 90% off), cash back is not offered on Local Deals purchases.

Want to make a contribution to your favorite cause without writing a check or taking money out of your pocket? We've made it easy! We've gathered nearly 2 million trusted and verified non-profit organizations in one place to allow you to contribute a portion (or all) of your cash back without writing a check.

How do I find my favorite cause?

To find your favorite cause simply type in the organization's name in our search feature.

When the results appear, you can narrow your search results by keyword, name and location to find the specific cause you're looking for.

Once I find my favorite cause, how do I contribute?

Once you find the cause you're looking for, click on "Select" to add the organization to your list of Supported Causes.

How do my selected causes receive the contribution from my cash back?

Once you've accumulated an amount of cash back in your Account that reaches your chosen minimum, we will automatically withdraw the money from your account and make a contribution to your selected cause(s) based on the percentage(s) that you've selected.

How do I update the percentage of my cash back that I want to contribute to my cause?

To update the percentage of your cash back that you want to contribute to your favorite cause or causes, simply enter the percentage that you want to contribute to each cause, from 0 – 100%, and click "Update".

How many causes can I support through the Supported Causes section?

You can add up to 3 of your favorite causes to your Supported Causes.

How do I remove a cause from my Supported Causes?

You remove a cause from your Supported Causes list by clicking "Remove".

How do I track contributions made to my Supported Cause(s)?

You can track contributions made to your Supported Cause(s) by date, organization and amount of contribution under "Charitable Contributions" in the Supported Causes section of My Account.

What if I can't search for or find my favorite cause?

Some organizations have chosen to feature their favorite cause(s) in their Support a Cause page. If you are not able to search for your favorite cause, it means that the organization has chosen to do this. In this case, you will only be able to contribute to the cause that is listed using this feature.

Cash Back

What are coupon/promo codes?

Coupon codes are text codes that you enter into a merchant’s store, during check out. Coupon codes trigger special on-line shopping discounts such as free shipping and discounts.

What if the store already offers a discount?

If the merchant you visit already offers a discount, then you will still receive your cash back if you click on the offer on Retail Benefits. If you click on the offer at another site, you will not receive cash back.

Do I need to purchase items online to receive my cash back or can I purchase items in the store?

All purchases must be made online through your Retail Benefits store in order to earn cash back.

What if I return or exchange something I purchased?

You will not earn cash back for returned or exchanged purchases. Orders are considered complete once the exchange and return periods are expired, which is typically 60-90 days.

Why has the amount of cash back decreased in my account?

There are usually 2 reasons for these decreases:
1. You used a promo or coupon code that wasn't from your Retail Benefits store.
2. You returned an item or cancelled and order.

What are reasons I might not earn cash back?

  • Your cookies were turned off. Please click this "Test My Computer" link to make sure.
  • You entered a coupon code not found on/or associated with Retail Benefits during the checkout process for the merchant.
  • You cancelled or returned the order.
  • You used a discount offer not offered by Retail Benefits.
  • You placed the order offline by calling the merchant.
  • You purchased a gift card or gift certificate.
  • You bought an item that did not qualify for cash back.
  • The terms of the offer were not met. Please check the cash back guidelines of each merchant.
  • You purchased an item online, but picked the order up in store. If we have not expressly noted that you can earn cash back rewards in the cash back guidelines for the merchant, you will not earn cash back for your purchase.
  • You purchased prescription medications. Prescription medications (for humans & pets) are not eligible for cash back rewards.
  • You purchased a gaming system. Most merchants do not pay cash back on gaming systems. Please check merchant guidelines.
  • You purchased a monthly delivery service like a tea-of-the month club or telephone service. These offers are not eligible for cash back rewards unless the service is paid for up front or in cases where it's noted up front. Please check the cash back guidelines for each merchant.
  • You saved items in a shopping cart at a merchant's store, and then click on a Retail Benefits link from your store to add more items. The items that will qualify for cash back, will be the items that you clicked after you clicked through from your Retail Benefits link.
  • You made a purchase with a gift card.
  • You preordered an item. Pre-orders likely do not qualify for cash back.
  • You purchased an extended warranty or travel insurance. Extended warranties and travel insurance are not eligible for cash back.

How do I use coupons from my Retail Benefits store?

  • If no coupon code is required, click the coupon link and the coupon discount will automatically be applied to your order during the store's checkout process.
  • If a coupon code is required, copy the "text code" from the merchant's Deals and Offers page. Begin shopping. During your checkout process on the merchant site, look for the "Promotion Code" or "Coupon Code" field. After you've found it, right click and paste the code into the box.

Can I use a coupon code I received from a merchant in an email and still get cash back?

You can only use coupon codes that are posted on Retail Benefits or found in your weekly emails from Retail Benefits and still get cash back for your order. Please, check the Retail Benefits page for that store to see what coupons we have available.

Can I make purchases directly from the merchant and still receive cash back?

To receive cash back from Retail Benefits on your purchase, you must Log into your Retail Benefits store. Then, click on the links on the Deals and Offers page to the merchant's website. Merchants track the source of your visit and what you buy. The order can then be tracked to your Retail Benefits account.

How can I make sure that I get my cash back?

  • Only click on links through your Retail Benefits store. Clicking through from other websites or typing the URL directly into your web browser without going through Retail Benefits may hinder your ability to earn cash back. The credit for the order may not be given to Retail Benefits.
  • Make sure your shopping cart is empty when you click through to the store from your Retail Benefits store. Merchants can track whether the items you've added to your cart were added before you clicked on your Retail Benefits store link. If you have items already saved in your shopping cart, you may not be eligible for cash back on those items.
  • Don't click on other links to go to an online store or click on pop-up ads while searching and shopping. Merchants may not credit the cash back to Retail Benefits, but the last links you clicked on.
  • Don't delete cookies. Cookies are how merchants track who should receive credit for a purchase.
  • Please don't close your browser while shopping. If you close your browser during shopping, your order may not qualify to earn cash back because the cookie may not be set correctly. If you close your browser, go back to the Retail Benefits link for that merchant. If there were items in your cart before you closed it, you will need to add to re-add these items to make sure you earn credit for them.
  • Make your purchase soon after you click through to the merchant. After you click the link from your Retail Benefits store, try to purchase soon after. If you take a long time going through the checkout process, or come back to it days or weeks later, the cookie may expire. If the cookie expires, you will not earn cash back. If over 2 hours have passed since you clicked through from a Retail Benefits store, then we advise that you re-click through to the merchant from your Retail Benefits site before ordering. You will also need to clear your cart on the merchant's website and make sure that all the items in your cart were added after you clicked the Retail Benefits link.
  • Save the receipt from your purchase at least until the cash is credited to your account. If there's any difficulty in receiving cash back from the merchant, you'll need the receipt to provide details of the transaction.

Comparison shop for items on Retail Benefits or before you get to Retail Benefits. If you want to find the cheapest price for a product, compare items at other sites and then purchase from Retail Benefits to make sure you're getting the best deal and the best cash back. If you shop on comparison sites after you've clicked the Retail Benefits link, you may not earn credit for these purchases. Make Retail Benefits your last click before purchasing an order.

Why is the amount posted to my account different than the sales total of the item I purchased?

Cash back is calculated based on the subtotal of your order. Retailers do not pay cash back on taxes, insurance, shipping or any other service charges.

How do I make an order?

  3. Complete the purchase in the browser window that opens for you. Do not open any other browser tabs or windows. Clicking on links from search engines or special merchant sites will interfere with earning cash back.
  4. The merchant will report your order to us and credit the earn cash back.

How do I make an order from the toolbar?

  1. Make sure that your toolbar is logged in.
  2. Search for the merchant or product you're interested in.
  3. Click through on the Merchant or Product page.
  4. Complete the purchase in the browser window that opens for you if you click through from a product. If you are shopping directly through the toolbar, click the pop up that asks if you'd like to earn cash back.
  5. The merchant will report your order to us and credit the cash back.

Simple Dos and Don'ts

DO

  1. Do make sure you've tested your cookies and adjusted any security settings in your anti-virus or browser security.
  2. Do make sure you start all shopping for which you want to earn cash back, from your store's cash back shopping portal.
  3. If you need to return and repurchase an order, make sure that you place the order through your store's cash back portal to receive cash back on the new order.
  4. Do make sure to keep your receipt or order confirmation until cash back has been reported to your account.
  5. Do visit the merchant's deals and offers page if you want to find coupons or sales.
  6. Do shop online if you want to receive cash back. Purchases made offline, do not qualify for cash back.

DON'T

  1. Don't use coupons, offers or deals from outside the store's cash back portal. This includes offers sent directly to you in the mail.
  2. Don't open other browsing sessions, windows or tabs when placing an order. This could interfere with the order tracking correctly.
  3. Don't have items in your cart from previously saved shopping sessions, before you click on your store's cash back link.
  4. Don't delete cookies during or after shopping. Merchants use cookies to track your order.
